Today is the deadline for giving former employees notice about the extension of federal COBRA assistance.
Originally, the federal government paid 65% of COBRA premiums for workers involuntarily terminated on or after September 1, 2008, and before January 1, 2010 -- for up to nine months.
Coverage has been extended for an additional six months and applies to those fired before March 1, 2010.
