SMALL BUSINESS COMMITTEE TO HOST MONROE SMALL BUSINESS OUTREACH CONFERENCE

WASHINGTON – The United States Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship will host a Small Business Outreach Conference in Monroe, La., on TOMORROW, May 7, 2010. The event is intended to assist small business owners looking to use federal and state small business assistance programs. The Committee joins with the Small Business Administration (SBA), the Small Business Development Centers and Louisiana Economic Development (LED) to provide brief overviews of SBA lending programs, federal contracting opportunities, LED’s Small and Emerging Business Development Program and other programs to help small businesses maintain and grow their businesses in this tough economic climate.

Officials from the SBA, LED and Louisiana Small Business Development Centers will join Sen. Mary Landrieu’s staff, which includes Staff Director and Chief Counsel Donald Cravins, Jr., a former State Senator from Louisiana, to discuss top concerns for entrepreneurs. The Committee held several similar outreach conferences in Lafayette, Lake Charles, Shreveport, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Thibodaux and Alexandria.

“Over the last year, we have held these events across the state,” Sen. Landrieu said. “We have received tremendous response from the small business owners and entrepreneurs from every part of Louisiana. We are bringing together organizations that offer businesses guidance, lending opportunities and information that will help their businesses grow and thrive. Small businesses are the key to getting this economy back on track, and these events show our support to ensuring their success.”
