BACKGROUND
The Condition of Education is an annual statistical portrait of education in America. The report, prepared by NCES, will be released and submitted to Congress and the President on May 27.
The 2010 report features a special section on high-poverty schools. The special section looks at the types and locations of schools with the highest levels of poverty; the characteristics of the students, their teachers, and their principals; and student achievement.
