Regional Funding Opportunities

Funds for Health Projects in Disaster Regions in the East, Midwest, and South
AmeriCares U.S. Disaster Recovery Initiative 
The AmeriCares U.S. Disaster Recovery Initiative is dedicated to supporting nonprofit organizations that are working to aid survivors of Hurricane Irene and other recent storms affecting the East Coast, the Midwest, and the South. This initiative supports nonprofit organizations responding to the recent hurricane, along with organizations continuing to rebuild and aid the recovery in the wake of the tornadoes, Mississippi and Missouri river flooding, and other major emergencies since February 1, 2011. Grants ranging from $10,000 to $100,000 will be provided for projects in the health sector, with an emphasis on medical and dental care for the uninsured, mental health and psychosocial support services, as well as preparedness for future disasters. Grants Promote Habitat Restoration in Oregon
National Fish and Wildlife Foundation: Oregon Governor's Fund for the Environment
The purpose of the Oregon Governor’s Fund for the Environment, administered by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), is to benefit Oregon’s natural habitats and their species. The Fund supports local environmental clean-up and restoration efforts focused on preserving and protecting Oregon’s rivers, watersheds, and fish and wildlife. In the upcoming funding cycle, grants from $10,000 to $50,000 will be provided to nonprofit organizations throughout the state to implement ecosystem conservation measures and make a significant contribution in protecting and enhancing fish, wildlife, and habitat resources in Oregon. The pre-proposal deadline is September 30, 2011; full proposals are due on December 2, 2011. Support for Youth Programs in Colorado
LibertyGives Foundation 
The LibertyGives Foundation provides grants to nonprofit organizations throughout the state of Colorado. The Foundation's current focus is on supporting causes benefiting underprivileged and at-risk youth in the state, with an emphasis on proactive and preventative services. Grants ranging from $1,000 to $150,000 are offered to organizations in Colorado that address the Foundation’s priority area by providing services to underserved youth. West Virginia Brownfield Redevelopment Initiatives Funded
Northern West Virginia Brownfields Assistance Center: Foundations for Overcoming Challenges and Utilizing Strengths West Virginia 
The Northern West Virginia Brownfields Assistance Center (NBAC) serves cities, communities, and local governments across West Virginia in their efforts to redevelop and revitalize contaminated brownfield properties through technical and programmatic assistance and funding opportunities. NBAC’s Foundations for Overcoming Challenges and Utilizing Strengths West Virginia Program provides grants of up to $5,000 to help communities create a redevelopment vision for brownfield properties of strategic community interest. Activities eligible for funding include conducting environmental site assessments, holding community meetings, and identifying and involving project stakeholders.
