Mobile workforce and taxes

The Mobile Workforce State Income Tax Simplification Act (H.R. 1864), which passed in the House last year, would create uniform standards on states' taxation on nonresident employee income. It would also provide rules for employer withholding for this income. It needs to be re-introduced in the new Congress. On the state level, the Model Mobile Workforce Statute is also designed to create uniform treatment for workers who are not state residents; North Dakota adopted a similar law, effective at the start of 2013.
